These glasswing butterflies live in the darkest, dampest, most deeply shaded areas of rainforest, and are mainly active in the twilight hours. When disturbed, they flit back into the undergrowth.
 
The wings are completely transparent apart from the brown and yellowish and pink blushes, and the delicate eye spots.
